No matter the size of the home, additions are an invaluable investment, as well as an excellent way to expand square footage and make the home feel almost new again. When these Decatur homeowners came to us looking to add on to their existing bungalow, we were quick to take on the job and transform this quaint little home into one that was much more accommodating for its homeowner’s lifestyle.
On the rear of the home, we added an open living space and updated the connecting kitchen. Going with 2021’s popular green trend, we painted the kitchen a bold olive color and added additional built-in cabinets above the refrigerator. We also added a rich walnut countertop to the breakfast bar that separates the kitchen and dining area.
Behind the kitchen, an additional second living area provides a new sunny living space for the homeowners to enjoy. Centering the room is a cozy fireplace featuring white tiling, wood details, and a space above the mantle with a tv setup perfect for home entertainment. On either side of the fireplace and across the back wall of the room are several large windows that invite natural light to shine through and open up the space. Through the home’s back door, homeowners can head right outside to their very own backyard sanctuary.
One of the most exciting additions to this intown Atlanta bungalow was the new owner’s suite and private spa bath. The new owner’s suite offers homeowners a bright, open and spacious room with lofty ceilings and natural hardwoods for a relaxed bedroom feel. Attached to the bedroom, the owner’s bathroom provides a spa-like experience with grey marble tiling on the floor, along with a lighter tile along the wall. A relaxing glass shower is located in the corner of the bathroom and a beautiful free-standing soaking tub sits behind it underneath a large window. On the opposite side of the bathroom is a beautiful navy dual sink vanity. Adjacent to the bathroom is a custom-built walk-in closet filled with floor-to-ceiling with shelving and storage galore!
