Virginia Van Lear has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and it shows in her dedication to her team over 20 years. Her drive for success comes from her early 20s and being told a woman would never make it in the homebuilding and renovation industry. Nothing could have been further from the truth, and Virginia is now one of two female owners for one of the most successful homebuilding and renovating firms in Atlanta, Level Craft Construction.
“As a woman in this industry, I love that I stand out in the crowd and succeed,” said Virginia.
Virginia began her professional career by graduating from the University of Georgia and becoming an entrepreneur. She founded an art gallery in Virginia Highland before selling this business and launching a manufacturing company called Twist. Although she loved her job, she was also flipping homes on the side and in 1999, she sold Twist to pursue her dream of full-time home investing and building. From there, she launched Level Craft and eventually took on Debbie Hollonbeck as a partner.
The Level Craft team is devoted to building a beautiful product for their clients, which is why they take a unique approach to the building process. Virginia’s daily responsibilities are a combination of managing and overseeing project coordinators, making onsite visits to solve daily problems and challenges, and meeting with potential clients. She also oversees the beginning stages of construction, making sure the project is complete to dry in before passing the project on to Debbie for the design stage.
“I love the building process overall, but demolition and framing are my favorite parts of the process,” said Virginia. “I also adore my Level Craft team and the process of working together to solve the daily problems we encounter.”
Virginia also gets to interact with customers to see their vision through to the end.
“I love educating our clients about the process. They always seem so excited to learn. I also get immense satisfaction when a job is completed and the homeowners are thrilled,” continued Virginia.
She thrives in the challenging environment that can come with each project, but Virginia comments that “it's an incredible feeling to take on a project and build someone's dream home.”
Virginia is motivated by her team of builders and developers to exceed standards for every project.
“Our entire Level craft team is devoted to building a beautiful product for our clients,” said Virginia. “We are all passionate about our jobs and I know that it shows.”
