Level Craft Construction recently renovated this historic single-family Craftsman-style home in Atlanta. Originally built in 1920, this home had a sturdy structure but needed a little TLC and space for a growing family of five. Sprawling out at 2,078 square feet, this beautiful home features four bedrooms and three baths and sits just in between Candler and Freedom parks.
The renovations start on the exterior of the home. The home previously featured a more dated, rustic appearance causing the home to blend into its surroundings, so the Level Craft team revamped it with crisp white color and Iron Ore trim, upping its curb appeal.
Upon entering the home, visitors are greeted with a bright, welcoming entryway with a renovated fireplace that separates guests from the kitchen, living room and staircase to the second level. The dark stone on the fireplace was painted white to match the new shiplap above the mantle that extends to the ceiling, and white built-ins were added beside the fireplace for additional storage.
While much of the home was updated to make it bright and modern, many of the home’s original Craftsman features were restored to ensure the home’s character remained. The beautiful wood floors and wood doors and trim throughout the home were brought back to life and shine even brighter now being surrounded by all white paint.
The biggest changes to this home can be found in the rear of the structure. The Level Craft team removed the rear exterior wall, proving space for a new addition to meet the needs of this growing family. In the space that used to include a bedroom, kitchen and deck, a new owner’s suite was added that affords the homeowners views of the beautiful, wooded lot. An attached bath includes gray Carrera marble tile and a shower with a glass door, as well as a double vanity surrounded by an abundance of windows.
A new, modern kitchen was added that includes an oversized island that is large enough for a family to gather around or for entertaining a crowd. We installed state-of-the-art appliances, including a Wolf cooktop, KitchenAid appliances and a wine cooler.
At the end of the kitchen, a double entryway that looks out onto the rear deck. The homeowners wanted a large outdoor living space to enjoy in every season, and this porch delivers with its gas fireplace and screened-in area.
Finally, we added a bright white, spacious laundry room with a shiplap feature wall. The room includes a folding table above the machines, as well as built-in cabinets and a sink for handwashing and cleaning.
The Level Craft Construction team loved working on the renovation of this historic Candler Park home, and this project is a wonderful example of how skilled our team is with renovating and reviving any house.
